WHAT IS INNER PEACE ANYWAY?
And how does one ‘get it’?
We don’t all agree about what brings us Inner Peace but we all know we want it! There are so many things that may bring us peace but may not seem to contribute to inner peace for others, that it’s impossible to come up with a formula that works for everyone. Finding a sense of peace within is a unique journey for each of us. Yes, it’s up to you to pursue that sense of peace for yourself. Only you know what aspects of life and experiences combine to give you a sense of well-being, or the feeling of being at peace with yourself.
One ingredient to Inner Peace that seems to surface over and over again when people describe feeling at peace, is a sense that whatever they are creating or doing with their life, it aligns with what is important to them. They feel aligned with their purpose, passion and values. Being in alignment implies that the different aspects of our involvement with our world and the people in it resonate or are in harmony with our core values and goals. When we feel out of alignment, we are feeling a sense of inner conflict that may even manifest as outer conflict.
When we examine the idea of being at peace with oneself, it becomes clear that it has much to do with knowing oneself well. It is also about be willing to examine ourselves and our lives when we feel like something is out of whack or feel that we are out of balance in some way.
It is not hard to identify when we are not at peace with ourselves but it takes a little time to uncover what the cause is. When we take the time to go within, to ask questions and to listen to our hearts communication and wisdom, we receive insight and illumination. Then it is just a matter of putting that communication into action; to take the steps necessary to bring our life and path back into alignment.
These are the first two keys to start the process of having more peace in your life.
Permission: Letting yourself ask for communication and self-inquiry
Acceptance: Letting go of judgment that everything is not perfect. Accepting however things already are in order to be able to create change.
Once you have allowed yourself to have these two keys, you are ready to discover some treasure about yourself and become more at peace with yourself and your life.
I invite you to join me in our Inner Peace meditations where we carve out a little time in our day to listen deeply to ourselves. There exists a gentle, peaceful, non-judgmental vibration within your heart if you can allow yourself to experience it. You were born with it. Come and listen to your soul’s wisdom and use it to make the changes you want to make in your life, or perhaps realize that everything is absolutely fine after all.
