Truth can be a slippery thing. When we find ourselves in a situation that is not so easy or not so comfortable we often make up a story about it. A story – a version of the truth that helps our ego, body or emotions feel more safe. The mind’s story in the short term can help us to avoid pain, but ultimately causes stress as the body prefers authenticity. Often the body will manifest symptoms like pain, or discomfort in order to call us to seek the truth.
It is very human to reinforce the story – and our safety by repeating our version of it to ourselves and others. If we repeat it often enough it can really gain credibility in the mind. The mind is capable of convincing itself of many things, but our heart and body knows what is true.
